Why do we shiver when we are cold?

When it becomes cold, the brain begins to use the mechanisms that help us keep warm. Shiver is one of such mechanisms. Because tremor is often small muscle contraction. As the muscles are always accompanied by release of heat energy.

By the way...

Tremor is an involuntary reaction to the cold, the reaction, which is triggered by brain cooling in addition to our consciousness. Such innate protective reactions of an organism in response to changes in the environment and within the body, aimed at maintaining consistency and balance in the body, called innate reflexes.
