Why moth so called? Where did the word "mole"?

The word "mole" means "a small insect". Related words "grind", "Maly", "small" and imagine, " "chalk"! In all Slavic languages the word "chalk" means something small. Chalk too, crumble in our hands, that is grind.

Really mol this small? Judge for yourself: the size of a butterfly moth 4-6 mm, wingspan - 20-22 mm.
