The air that surrounds our planet is relatively thin layer. All aerial shell of the Earth is called the atmosphere, but it is divided into several different thickness layers.
The weather on our planet meets only the lower layer of the atmosphere - the troposphere. It clouds arise, develop atmospheric vortices - cyclones and anticyclones. Its average height is only 11 km (at the equator it is about 17 miles above the poles from 7 to 8 kilometers), while the thickness of the entire air coats the planet comes to 1000 kilometers. If we imagine the Earth as a ball with a diameter of half a meter, that all the scales of the atmosphere will not exceed 10 centimeters and troposphere, respectively - hardly 1 mm.
