Thirty years ago, in the early 50-ies, archaeologists have excavated in Central Asia, in places where once was located the ancient Khorezm state. Among other finds them caught a few terracotta figurines. Figurines represented musicians who were holding tools. In these two-stringed plucked instruments, scientists have learned ancestors of dombra, still widespread in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
Dombra - a relative of the Russian domra and balalaika. Two strings are tightened on a small pear shaped body and a very long neck, separated by frets. Configured strings in a quart or fifth. The sound from them is extracted comb, blow brush or mediator. Playing the dombra accompany his singing folk storytellers - Akins.
