In Italy there is the wonderful city of Venice. Built on numerous Islands, Venice is almost no streets. Instead, the city cut the channels. Right in the channels opened the doors of houses, to the stairs tied a long narrow black boats gondolas.

In such boats, moving silently through the endless tape channels, and born gondoliers - songs of the boatmen of the gondoliers. These songs are smooth, melodious and solemn.
Composers liked the soft song rhythm gondoliers (also called Barcarole), and here following the Venetian folk songs appeared barcaroli created by composers of different countries, barcaroli vocal and piano. The Mendelssohn we find the Barcarolle in his "Songs without words", - Tchaikovsky the collection "seasons", it is a play "June".
