In the 30-ies of the XIX century English scientists William Buckland and Henry Menten found an unusual remains. They suggested that the jaw and teeth belonging to the ancient reptiles, as fossil bones were not similar to the skeletons of modern reptiles. Soon the animals, the remains of which were found, called dinosaurs. The surprising discovery has inspired scientists for further excavations. Soon it was described about 100 species of carnivorous and herbivorous dinosaurs.
The word "dinosaur" means "terrible lizards". The so-called English zoologist Richard Owen. These animals belong to the class of reptiles, division of archosaurs. Scholars have identified four archosaur: americasby dinosaurs, plated ornithischians ñ dinosaurs, flying reptiles (pterosaurs) and crocodiles.
Dinosaurs appeared on Earth about 200 million years ago and lived there almost 140 million years. First, the number of dinosaurs howled huge, they were diverse. Among them were hunters, bloodthirsty predators and harmless plant-eating animals. But about 65 million years ago the dinosaurs became extinct.
