GREAT COMPOSERS

FRANZ SCHUBERT

(1797-1828)

Franz Schubert
Wilhelm August Rieder
Franz Schubert

The boy was short-sighted, small growth, modest and shy. He loved his mother, father, brothers, sisters. At home, in childhood, had been revealed to him great joy the father brought him into the world of music. Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven - their music was his happiness. In the house sang, played on different instruments. Not a week passed without home concerts.

Thanks a good voice Franz took in a court fine On its ability drew the attention of the famous Antonio Salieri, and began to teach the art of composition. But shy student turned out to be surprisingly stubborn: he wrote songs to the words of the German poet and didn't want to write brilliant arias in the Italian manner, which was imposed to him by the teacher. The teacher did not know the German language and did not understand folk music and poetry of the country in which lived for many years. The student did not understand the Italian language, not loved no Shine and was in love with the native poetry.

When the time came, the boy, like all teenagers, began to voice broke. Had to leave the choir. We had to decide which way to go. The boy is very much composed and experienced teachers, musicians in one voice spoke of his extraordinary talent. But the father knew that being a musician requires initiative, confidence, perseverance, external splendor. His boy, timid, shy, unattractive, this profession will only bring poverty, unnecessary grief and care. The father decided to make his teacher in his school, and then to transfer this school is entirely in his hands.

The young man loved his family, his father, was obedient. He obeyed. But the music lived in it, the music attracted him - and he couldn't do. He lived in Vienna. And in Vienna everywhere there was music on the streets, in homes, in the countryside, in the theater, the concert. In Vienna lived Austrians, Germans, Czechs, Slovaks, Hungarians, Gypsies, Italians. Everywhere was the sound of folk songs, dances.

Schubert reluctantly taught music to children younger classes, listened to music, and wrote, wrote, wrote. Songs, choirs, symphonies, sonatas, quartets... Melodies that filled him, he had no time to record them. For one year 1815 he wrote a hundred and fifty songs. Each of them is bright, new, none of the other are not similar. School was becoming nenavistna. And then the day came when the shy and gentle young man left home. This day was his grief and his joy. Unbearable pain of the gap with the native people and the joy of freedom, creativity.

The death of his beloved mother brought him home again. But his father was adamant in his decision to make him a teacher. A young man is gone now forever. It was in 1822. Then from under his pen broke excited-line only literary works in prose, which he called "My dream":

"...So again I withdrew and with a heart filled with infinite love for those who ignored me, again went into exile. Songs were sung, I now long, long years."

He sang his beautiful song, no matter what...

The Schubert was not of noble patrons. The only influential friends who could help him was the court composer Salieri. But Schubert did not share his views on music and didn't want to ask him for help. Soft, timid man was very proud.

He had not performed in public concerts. It was not known at the court.

Publishers paid the composer pennies, taking advantage of his impracticality and they had amassed capital. Often he had no money to rent a room, many of his compositions he wrote without tools, because it has for a long time did not own a piano, he didn't buy a nice suit, and it happened that a few days eating only crackers with coffee. His health was undermined. Therefore, when in the fall of 1828 he became ill with typhoid fever, the doctors failed to save him.

Father was right - the profession of a musician brought Schubert suffering, need, care about bread and brought fame resounding success, good luck in life.

But he was happy other: his music and friends. The Schubert was a lot of loyal friends - artists, poets, artists such as poor losers", as he is also in love with native music, native poetry - people with progressive views and sensitive to everything beautiful.

The friends stuck together in hard times came to the aid of each other. Schubert was in the circle of the General favorite. Friends spread his works, collected and kept his writings, copied manuscripts, walked the publishers, organized concerts in the homes of friends where you can gather more people. Thanks to them, gradually, the music of Schubert conquered Vienna. Especially has done a lot for Schubert famous singer Vogl who liked his unusual, simple songs: he began to speak with them in all concerts. Schubert, anywhere, for life is not wheeled it on the outskirts of Vienna, went with Fuglem in a tour of Upper Austria, the birthplace of the singer - and even accompanied him.

In the last year of his life, Schubert, famous for its extraordinary songs, increasingly turned to orchestral compositions. "I don't want to hear about the songs, now I finally began the Opera and the Symphony, " he wrote.

Most of all composers Schubert loved Beethoven, his older contemporary. To the heights of symphonic music of the great Beethoven he sought. For many years he lived in the same city with Beethoven, walked the streets, which he loved to walk Beethoven, from afar, looked at him and did not dare to approach, so to speak. And when I finally decided and went, it turned out that Beethoven had died.

Who knows what would have reached Schubert, if not early death. He worked incredibly very much and don't have time to do. Beethoven himself at thirty-two years he composed two symphonies, Schubert, before they reach this age nine.

Widely known now "unfinished" Symphony by Schubert. It has two parts. There are sketches of the third part, but it only sketches. In the "Unfinished" Symphony Schubert expressed fragile dream, and sad anxiety, and a bright hope, and relentlessness cruel life. The melody changes, it sounds muffled, mysterious whisper, long beautiful song. The second part is less suffering, more calm reflection, masculinity, it seems even that flashed joy... the Melody is gradually dying out, and remains bright, thoughtful...

Himself Schubert never heard of his "Unfinished" Symphony orchestra. He gave the score an Amateur musical society of Graz, but she got lost and was accidentally discovered only many years after his death, in 1865. The last Symphony Schubert Ninth is still not found, as some of his other works. During the life of Schubert's no publisher has released his symphonies, none of the orchestra was not interested in his symphonic compositions.

In October 1962 in Moscow - music lovers was a great holiday. One of the best pianists of our time, Lenin prize laureate Emil Gilels was first performed with the orchestra of the "Fantasy" Schubert, written for home performance on piano four hands. In concerts is not accepted by the piano in four hands. Therefore, the "Fantasy" Schubert's f minor, one of the most vivid and poetic writings, was completely unavailable to the public. Soviet composer D. B. Kabalevsky, preserving the music of Schubert, wrote a new score - solo piano and orchestral accompaniment.

Franz Schubert. Fantasy in f minor for piano four hands.

...Great hall of the Conservatory is full. Thousands of people, afraid to take a deep breath, nervously watching the flight of the beautiful dreams of Schubert. The sun and the joy along with the music fill the room, anxiety, sadness, hope, and again, sadness and anxiety.

Nobody remembers about the young Countess, a pupil of Schubert, which was written this wonderful musical poem and many wonderful poems and songs. But the music lives here is one hundred and forty years and gives birth to the people of new generations tears of joy and sadness.

The "unfinished" Symphony, the cycle of anxious youth songs "Beautiful wife" (and among them the famous "Trout" and "In the way"), the cycle is sad, tragic songs "Winter road", "Forest king", in the words of Goethe, the famous "Serenade," which was translated into Russian by N. Ogarev "my Song, fly with prayer..."), the beautiful song "Ave Maria", which was so beautifully sang a little Italian Robertino Loretti...
